How It Works

How a natural ecosystem pond works

A pond is made of many parts. Assembled correctly, they form a naturalistic work of art that changes with the time of day, the seasons, and the moods of nature.

Mechanical Skimmer

Pre-filters the water and houses the pump, skimming surface debris before it settles on the pond floor.

BioFalls® Filter

Provides surface area for beneficial bacteria to colonise and remove excess nutrients from the water.

Circulation Pump

Keeps the water moving and delivers the oxygen levels healthy koi and plants need.

Rocks & Gravel

Add huge surface area for bacteria to break down excess nutrients and organic debris on the pond floor.

Fish

Koi graze on string algae and bottom-feed, reducing maintenance — and make enjoyable, natural pets.

Aquatic Plants

Mother Nature’s true filters — they add colour and texture, and from a filtration view they’re second to none.
